PRESS ANNOUNCEMENT
THE FIRST MEDIATION CONGRESS IN ROMANIA
The Union of the Mediation Centers in Romania organizes The First Mediation
Congress in Romania in CRAIOVA between the 16th and the 17th of March 2007.
The works of the Congress will take place at the University in Craiova and
their purpose is to organize The Union of the Mediation Centers in Romania,
to promote and support the interests of mediation in Romania, to organize
workshops in order to perfect the mediation techniques.
Through the intermediary of a program initiated by the Mediation Center in
Craiova with the support of the Cultural Center of the USA Embassy in Romania,
the Ministry of Justice and the bar associations in Romania, starting with
2005, there have been training courses on mediation under the coordination
of expert and experienced mediators from Washington DC – USA. As a consequence
of the trainings in Craiova, mediation centers have been created in every
county of our country; these centers have later on reunited under the the
Union of the Mediation Centers in Romania.
The Union of the Mediation Centers in Romania aims at: promoting, supporting,
studying and practicing mediation, as well as making it popular in Romania
through a better understanding of the mediation procedure, ensuring the material
and finacial support necessary to sustain the mediation activity.
The organizers of the Congress are the Mediation Center in Craiova in association
with the other Mediation Centers, members of the Union. At the Congress there
will be over 200 persons: mediators, lawyers, judges, business people, other
persons interested in the mediation field and guests from every county in
Romania, together with guests from abroad.
